BIG D
Leap of Faith / track 3

It was a night like any other this time of year
There was a sunset blazing red a howling wind brought a little tear
The desert moon was hangin’ bright and low
When it’s time to go don’t you know it’s time to go

Getting ready for a gig in town there was a knock on the door
And a holler of his name in a way he heard a thousand times before
Could it be who he thought it was from so many years ago
He had no idea tonight was his time to go

When it’s time to go don’t you know it’s time to go
When your numbers up it’s up little pup it’s the last part of the show
The love you give is equal to the only love you’ll ever know
I wish I coulda said goodbye before your sweet chariot swung low

His old buddy came in and he was wearing a big wide grin
Doyle rubbed his eyes and he hollered,”where ya been, my friend?”
He said,”There’s plenty of time to tell you everything you want to know
Get ready Big D, there’s a place we got to go.”

When it’s time to go…….

His buddy opened the door and stepped out into that West Texas night
And as Doyle looked on what he beheld was a most amazing sight
Stevie winked and said, “You’ve been living your life for this very day.”
And together they walked across the Milky Way

The love you give is equal to the only love you’ll ever know
I wish I coulda said goodbye before your sweet chariot swung low

It was a dawn like any other this time of year
And when the news went out that Doyle was gone, many shed a bitter tear
But don’t forget the night before who walked across the great divide
And two friends reunited forever on the other side

When it’s time to go….
I wish I coulda said goodbye before your sweet chariot swung low
